Superior Drummer costs a lot more, but you can upgrade if you feel like you want more control over the way your drums sound and/or your looking for a more practical way to create midi tracks. I used EZ Drummer for about 6 months because it is more affordable and it is one of the better drum VSTs out there. Superior Drummer’s tracker feature makes it easy to create and edit drum tracks within the plugin itself. With EZ Drummer, I was just using a drum trigger and I would create the beats pretty much just by playing my electronic kit connected to Reaper. You can mix and match any drums or cymbals from any EZX or SDX that you own. You can even deal with each channel separately when fiddling with compression. You have the option to set up the mics however you choose. , and you can customize your drumset a bit. Superior drummer has 32 channels available. You do have some freedom to change the tonal qualities a bit (you control over the level of bleed, compression, reverb, etc.) among the 16 channels available in the mixer. If you can be happy with the presets on ez drummer 2 you’ll be fine. I used ez drummer 2 for quite a while and it served me well. Given that EZD3 automatically imparts emphasis on 'strong' beats, this usually works well enough for me to capture the essence of the groove. For this purpose, using EZD3, I often simply transcribe the drums parts using the Grid Editor. Would Superior Drummer 3 provide the same or better tonal characteristics that these expansion packs offer, as well as the Midi packs that go with themĪnd would i be ok with just the Superior Drummer 3 and its built in or bundled samples / midi packs, or would i still need to buy the expansion packs in order to achieve the sound and feel that i want in order to authentically emulate the classic rock drummers of the 60s. So, I am basically replicating the drums from the covers songs I play. Than buying EZ Drummer 2 with 2 EZ Expansion packs built in (such as Vintage or Classic and 70s) I understand that Superior Drummer 3 is superior to EZ drummer, however, on a limited budget would Superior Drummer 3 be a better option So have limited access to funds at the mo. So i was wondering if Superior Drummer 3 would be a better choice for me in this particular instance, as i also am living off a budget. I would have to upgrade ez-drummer to EZ Drummer 2. So i was wondering what my best solution was, as i have realised that in order to use EZ Drummer Expansion packs (such as Vintage, Classic, 70s) classic drummers like Keith Moon (the Who), Kenny Jones (the Small Faces, The Faces, The Who) and John Bonham. I am really into creating drum parts that sound real and authentic in the style of the Classic and Vintage Drummers
